Nas breaks down “It Ain’t Hard to Tell” with Harvard Poetry Prof. Elisa New

Hip-Hop music is about beats and rhymes. One of the main ways we determine our great emcees is through lyrical ability. Hip-Hop music is poetry and one of Hip-Hop’s best poets is Nas. One of the most lyrical and poetic Hip-Hop albums of all-time is Nas’s debut album “Illmatic”. Nas sat down with Harvard Poetry Professor Elisa New to break down the lyrics of his 1994 classic song “It Ain’t Hard To Tell”. Professor New connected certain dots in this classic piece that the young Nas unintentionally connected. It’s amazing to see how wise beyond Nas’s years he was in his late teens when he wrote this piece.
