The Good People Release Their New Album ‘Good For Nuthin’

The Good People is a story of two Hip-Hop sonic forces coming together to create masterful music. Emskee and Saint released their first self titled album in 2006 on Goon Trax/Media Factory label with huge success as one of the highest selling albums in the labels history. During that same time, they put out “The Good People EP” which was released on Mad Flava which also found them much success throughout Europe. In 2007 they released their sophomore album “Long Time Coming” on River City Recordings which launched popular Japanese 12 inch singles from the album such as “Bar Backs”,”Bump That” and “Non Believers”.

Between 2007 and 2009, both Saint and Emskee released solo albums. Emskee released “Hardly Seen, Rarely Heard” and Saint released “About Time”. In 2012 they released their highly anticipated album “Gone for Good” album on DWG & in late 2013 Emskee released a solo album called The Marc Smith LP”a collaboration with E the 5th on production.

Emskee, is originally from Teaneck, New Jersey and now resides in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. He is known to many as a highly respected DJ in New York and around the World. He has DJ’d at many New York hot spots such as APT, Joe’s Pub, Table 50, Union Square Lounge, and Black Betty to name a few. In 2002, HBO sent Emskee on a West Coast DJ tour to promote the stateside debut of the Ali G Show. He also had the perverse pleasure of spinning for the J-Lo Swimwear Tour in association with MTV. In 2001, he toured the Americas as the featured DJ with Latin fusion band King Chango. Emskee has been the host of a bi-monthly dance classic special, The Rare Radio Show on WBAI 99.5. He’s also headlined The Underground Railroad Show (also on WBAI) since 1999. The program was named “best radio show” by the New York Press.

Emskee got his start in the music industry in the early 90’s, when his homemade mix tapes, produced by underground hip-hop legend Nick Wiz and featuring turntablist DJ Slice, found their way to the airwaves and into the hands of New York radio’s most iconic DJ’s such as Red Alert, Kid Capri, Funkmaster Flex, and Stretch Armstrong/Bobbito Garcia. He recently used these promos for a double 12 inch for label and website DWG. He can also be heard showing off his emcee skills on various projects for groups like The Together Brothers, Boca 45, Leisure All Stars, Zimbabwe Legit, Hoglodytes, JR and PH7.

Saint was born and raised on Long Island. He began rhyming at the age of 12 and began to produce on a serious level at age 17. In his early twenties he attended an audio engineering school, which landed him a job at 7heads record Label doing studio work. While there, he slipped some tracks to the higher-ups at the label and they were immediately impressed. He was then given production jobs for artists such as J-Live, Kon and Amir, Wordsworth, and Unspoken Heard. With the success of those songs he was then asked to do his first solo album, the critically acclaimed ‘Grown Folk Music.’ It was a Hip-Hop soulful, house fusion project that had guest appearances by Mr. Man, Grap Luva, Tiombe Lockhart, Vinia Moijica, Reggie Watts, and others. A couple years after that release, he released a mix CD entitled ‘Variety Hour’ which was mixed by DJ 3D .

Thus far in his already impressive career, Saint has worked with and produced for artists such as El Da Sensei, Ed OG, Zimbabwe Legit, Travis Blaque, Mr. Complex, Prince Po, YZ, Stic Man, Mike G, Kool Kim, Cadence, Muneshine and many other renowned artists.
