Diddy & DJ Khaled Have Been Accused Of Colorism Factoring In Who They Chose To Go To The Finale Of The Four

For those that don’t know The Four is a singing competition that differs among similar talent competitions, in that there are no stage auditions. The artists, also known as the challengers, are held in the holding room before singing in front of a live studio audience and the judges. The panel of people in the music industry ultimately decides the best challengers that compete against “The Four”. Their decision must be unanimous. The members consist of vocalists of varying genres, and they must win challenges against new artists to keep their seat and remain as a member of “The Four”. At the end of six weeks, the last singer standing among “The Four” wins the competition.

The judges are Diddy, DJ Khaled, and Meghan Trainor. Last night’s episode was the episode that would determine what contestants made it into the season Finale of the show, which will be next week. Instead of going with the audience’s decisions like they do in previous weeks the power is in the hands of the judges who makes it to the finals. Diddy made the statement “I am not here to please the people on social media”. Which is odd because the people on social media are the viewers that support the show and the customers to the whom you would be selling music to.

In last night’s episode of The Four many fans got a taste of how political the music industry can be in the form of two contestants. Ali Caldwell has been blowing away her competition since she has been on the show with each performance. Caldwell was set to face a shaky vocalist with a marketable image in Whitney Reign. The two singers faced off and Caldwell clearly came out on top with Diddy telling her she is one of the best vocalist that he had ever heard. Yet and still the judges were acting as if the faceoff between the two singers was closer than it actually was. Then they hit the audience and the viewing public with the bombshell that Whitney Reign was their winner.

Twitter was set a blaze with fans not understanding what happened, then colorism entered the conversation. Checkout the faceoff as well as the Twitter reactions and see if you can make sense of it all.
