50 Cent’s $2 Million Lawsuit Against Rick Ross For Rhyming Over ‘In Da Club’ Is Thrown Out By Federal Judge

A federal judge in Connecticut threw out 50 Cent’s $2 million lawsuit filed in 2015 against Rick Ross for rhyming over 50 Cent’s “In Da Club”

During the 50 & Ross feud a $7 million judgment against 50 Cent for leaking a sex tape featuring Ross’ ex-girlfriend Lastonia Leviston.

Ross’ mixtape, “Renzel Remixes,” samples the beat from 50 Cent’s “In Da Club,” a chart topping hit from 2003. Jackson argued that Ross took the beat without permission.

But the judge, in his dismissal, said that Jackson didn’t have “a valid argument” since he doesn’t own the copyright or the master recordings which these belong to Shady/Aftermath Records. Thus, there “wasn’t much merit behind his argument,”

Jackson’s lawyers had told Complex, “We will use every legal tool available to remedy what we allege is an unauthorized use of 50 Cent’s name, identity, and trademark.” Jackson filed for bankruptcy in 2015.
