Angie Stone Calls Out Bruno Mars For Stealing Pieces Of Her Group’s 1979 Hit “Funk You Up” For “Uptown Funk

Recently Bruno Mars has been catching a lot of flack for culture appropriation. This time the criticism comes from legendary singer and member of Hip-Hop’s first female rap group Angie Stone.

The Sequence filed a lawsuit against Mars and Ronson in December asking for a jury trial and an unspecified amount of money.

“Bruno acknowledged The Sequence in a tweet very long ago saying ‘this was influenced by The Sequence,’ Stone added. “Do your homework because you are a brilliant artist but you need to respect the game.”

TMZ caught up with Angie Stone and here is what she had to say.
