Kendrick Lamar’s ESPN Halftime Performance For The CFP National Championship Game Will Not Be In The Same Venue President Trump Is Attending

The College Football Playoff National Championship is Monday, Jan 8th at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium and airing live on ESPN at 8 PM Eastern, and for the first time ever, the game will have a halftime performer. Kendrick Lamar was announced late December as the performer to do the honors.

White House officials told CNN and USA Today that Trump is expected to attend the game. So with that news hitting the wire many media outlets have reported the event as if President Trump will be attending a Kendrick Lamar performance at halftime. In all actuality the two will be in two totally different venues.

While President Trump will be enjoying his halftime at the newly built Mercedes-Benz Stadium Kendrick Lamar will be performing his halftime show a mile away outside at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park.

This still gives Kendrick room to make a political statement which he often does in his music. But it won’t be right there in the face of President Trump. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
