Chance The Rapper Is Chance The Singer As He Does ZERO Rapping At His NPR Tiny Desk Concert

Most publications are probably going to tell how “great” and “soulful” that Chance The Rapper’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert set was. Well, we’re a Hip-Hop outlet and we keep it real over here. As a long time fan of the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series this was possibly the worst one that I have seen to date. In combination it was by far the most hyped set in the history of the show. NPR employees were Tweeting during the taping of this like they had just seen Michael Jackson in the flesh. Rushing to the set like Prince was about to perform “Purple Rain” in it’s entirety. Tweeting out overly emotional statements like “today i made eye contact with @chancetherapper at and cried my soul out as he covered stevie wonder”

The Rapper is in Chance’s name for a reason (not that he is really super nice like that on the mic). Let’s just say singing isn’t Chance’s strong suit. If Chance were an unknown singing off key like this and trying to cover classic Stevie Wonder he would be booed off the stage. Randy Jackson would have given him a “No Dawg”. Chance’s only saving grace struggling to hit these notes was his background singing group that looked like a diverse cast of a Shonda Rhimes production. But at the end of the day the hipster crowd is in love with this artist, Chance can clearly do no wrong. Even a lackluster poem that Chance had to start over and deliver again during the middle of his set was well received. Checkout Chance The Rapper’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert for yourself.
