On Monday, May 5, the trial of Bad Boy Records Founder, Sean “Diddy” Combs officially began. The music mogul is on trial for his alleged participation in a sex trafficking ring.
Diddy Admits to Being ‘Nervous’ During First Day of Trial
The slew of charges that Diddy is facing is significant. If he is convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison. So naturally as his trial began he was “nervous,” as he intimated it to Judge Arun Subramanian.
“I’m sorry your honor, I’m a little nervous today,” the music mogul told Judge Subramanian per the New York Post.
The Post also added that Diddy requested a bathroom break after “roughly 90 minutes” of the jury selection questioning process.
Combs’ Downfall Explained
To recap, this entire debacle surrounding Diddy started in November 2023. That is when his ex-girlfriend and label artist Cassie Ventura slapped him with a civil lawsuit. One alleged that she was a victim of sex trafficking during their 11-year relationship that spanned from 2007-2018. It took Diddy one day to settle that suit — however, his problems were far from over.
Cassie coming forward had a domino effect. The floodgates began to open with multiple men and women coming forward saying that were victims of Diddy’s abuse. And that he used his power and influence to go unpunished.
In March 2024, the feds raided Diddy’s home for evidence in hopes that it would lead to his arrest. Among the things found in their discovery were 1000 bottles of baby oil.
In May 2024, CNN released an explosive video, showing a 2016 incident between Cassie and Diddy at a Los Angeles Area hotel. In the video, Cassie appears to try to escape from the hotel while Diddy is in the shower. He then emerges in a towel and proceeds to assault her before dragging her back into their room.
In September 2024, the feds picked Diddy up in the lobby of a New York City hotel and charged him with sex trafficking.
Several celebs are expected to be named in the upcoming trial according to The Post. Kanye West, actor Mike Myers, and Michael B. Jordan are among them. However, they also added they are not sure of the context in which their names are involved.
