DJ Stretch Armstrong New Book “No Sleep” Examines Classic Hip-Hop Flyer Art

 

Legendary New York DJ And Radio Personality DJ Stretch Armstrong is releasing a new book entitled “No Sleep” which tells the story of New York City club life of the late 80’s and early 90’s through flyer art. These are the days well before social media that easy access to a robust internet. The days when you had to have the dopest flyer to get the attention of someone to get them to attend your event. DJ Stretch Armstrong garnered highly acclaimed status in New York City has one half of the legendary radio duo Stretch Armstrong And Bobbito Show on WKCR. WKCR is the college radio station at Columbia University where in Hip-Hop’s hay day of The 90’s the Stretch Armstrong And Bobbito Show resided and gave the world some of Hip-Hop’s most iconic figures at their infant stages. Everyone from Jay Z, Nas, Redman, to The Wu-Tang Clan. But with every great Hip-Hop DJ there is a great Hip-Hop party nearby. Stretch documented this journey in many was and flyers were one of them.
