A lot of people deemed 2024 the end of Drake as we know it. But you can’t tell. Because it’s now official – the Canadian-born artist officially has “more slaps than the Beatles.”
Drake Makes More History, Surpassing The Beatles & Taylor Swift
On April 8, Chart Data revealed that “Views From The Six,” creator has officially bypassed the iconic British band for the most cumulative weeks charting on the Billboard 200.
Drake’s legendary run dates back to 2009, when he released his classic So Far Gone, mixtape. His projects have now spent a grand total of 3,348 weeks on the Billboard charts, surpassing the Beatles’ previous record of 3,311. Pop star Taylor Swift has also narrowly edged the Beatles with 3,311 consecutive weeks.
April 8 was also a history-making double feature for Drizzy. He became
the first artist to surpass 500 million RIAA-certified units across albums, singles, and features, according to Chart Data.
The Boy may be riding high now, but 2024 was definitely one of the lower points in Drake’s career. Largely due to his beef with his nemesis Kendrick Lamar. After Lamar dropped his 2024 smash hit, “Not Like Us,” which takes aim at Drizzy, many deemed that Kendrick essentially ended Drake’s run at the top. However, after Drake’s new hit ”NOKIA”, topped the Apple Music charts, dethroning Kendrick and SZA’s Luther, his OVO artist Preme, says it is clear that the Six God is still on top.
“They said we were dead. They said it was over. They said the Super Bowl was checkmate. They said he should take a few years off and disappear. Back on top even while beefing with the label and it’s only April! This why yall hate the boy,” Preme wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, with an accompanying screenshot.
The OVO artist also added: “The best revenge is success.”
Drake’s run doesn’t appear to be ending any time soon.
