Drake and Party Next Door dropped their collab album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U on February 14. The album has already secured the top spot on the Billboard charts several times since its release.
Drake Was Working on New Album While Shooting ‘NOKIA’ Video
The biggest hit on that album is Drake’s smash hit “NOKIA.” On March 31, Drizzy dropped the visuals for the song that has had social media in a chokehold. The visuals feature a classic black-and-white backdrop. He also pays homage to the classic Nokia phone with displays of the classic Snake game.
But even while working on the music video, Drizzy was still in album mode. During a recent stream Drake’s artist OVO Smiley noted that between takes of the music video, Drizzy was working on his upcoming album.
“Even at the ‘Nokia’ video shoot, during a break, he had a bunch of producers and he was just recording. He’s in that crazy mode, right now,” Smiley said.
Smiley also noted that Drake has upped the ante as far as it comes to his focus on the new album. To the point that even when they are out partying, Drake has stepped away from the festivities to work on the upcoming project.
“We’re at a party and he was in the other room by himself eating pasta with wired headphones and writing music while we have a whole fucking party going on. He’s on a different mode right now,” Smiley added.
Drake recently confirmed that he is working on the upcoming album on a stream with popular YouTube creator Adin Ross in April. He also confirmed that this upcoming album will be a solo project and confirmed that it will be a “slap.” Drake has not dropped a solo project since 2023 when he released “For All The Dogs.” It will be interesting to see what the hitmaker has in store.
