HBO Airing A Four Part Documentary On Jimmy Iovine & Dr Dre

arrives at the Beats by Dr. Dre CES after-party at the Marquee Nightclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on January 10, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

HBO announces in a press release that they will be airing a four part documentary on Jimmy Iovine & Dr. Dre and their business relationship entitled “The Defiant Ones”. This documentary will include first hand accounts from Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine including a host of others. This documentary will be directed by Hughes Brother Allen Hughes of “Menace II Society fame and also have film appearances from Nas, Ice Cube, & Eminem. The documentary is an in-depth look at the partnership of these two individuals from two totally different worlds of music but yet how they are bonded by music.

HBO Programming Boss tells Complex  “The Defiant Ones has everything you expect in a great story — drama and humor, tragedy and triumph. Allen Hughes takes you on a journey through some of the most important flash points of popular culture, and I’m delighted that we can bring this unforgettable saga to our viewers.”

Hughes conducted in-depth interviews and filmed Dr. Dre and Iovine over a three year period to put this piece together. From the Death Row Records period to their $3 Billion Beats/Apple Music deal this documentary is a must watch for any Hip-Hop, business, or tech fan.
