Ye, formerly known as rap star Kanye West recently linked up with popular hip-hop blogger, DJ Akademiks for an interview. And it went exactly how most expected it to.
Kanye West Reignites Playboi Carti Beef
One of the people West takes aim at in the recent interview is his one-time cohort, Playboi Carti. This time around, Ye expressed how his issues with Carti are also rooted in him not being involved with his latest project.
“He sent me the song [‘We Need All Da Vibes’] with Thug and Ty, we were in the studio. We were talking about doing a mixtape. And then I called him like, ‘Bro, where’s our song?!’ It feels like on Carti’s album, he’s doing everybody a favor,” West said.
“He didn’t need to have all the f*****g features … The album could be better. That amount of songs is really ambitious. How do you do that without having me as your producer?”
West also said that now that he and Carti have filled out he views him as an “agent.”
“Carti took the blue pill, but he made his name off the red pill. The red pill is the n****s like Neo, and the blue pill is the agents. So now Carti is an agent.”
The beef between the two artists arose following the release of Carti’s new album Music, which dropped in March. Kim Kardashian posted a screenshot of the lyrics to Carti’s song Fine Sh*t where he gives a nod to Kardashian’s Skims brand.
“I bought that h* a lot of clothes, but she loves her Skims,” he raps on the song.
Carti posted Kim’s screenshot to his Instagram story and showed his appreciation. He also expressed his desire to work with Kim and Kanye’s oldest child, North West.
Tell my niece North to send me a song,” he wrote.
The gesture was all in good nature but Kanye did not seem to find it humorous.
