Midnite Visions Presents “SHADOWBOXING” Starring Deborah Hughes

Midnite Vision presents part 1 of their visual dance series “SHADOWBOXING”. SHADOWBOXING gives us an intro and outro with classic vintage vocals from The Greatest Of All-Time, the late great Muhammad Ali. Ali in this soundbite expresses the importance of getting back up when you have been knocked down and the importance of preparation. As Ali famously quotes:

“I’ve wrestled with alligators,
I’ve tussled with a whale.
I done handcuffed lightning
And throw thunder in jail.”

With a classic black and white dance studio theme, Deborah Hughes breaks into her jazzy dance routine over Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers’ “A Chant For Bu” from their 1973 album “Buhaina”.  “SHADOWBOXING” is about using your energy to put into your dedicated craft. Deborah is letting go of all the troubles of the day as she zones out into performing what she loves. Sparing in her choreography with the day to day and all of the problems that come with it.

As Deborah Hughes goes through her routine you can feel the energy and her passion in her craft. Midnite Vision directors Spencer Charles and Taylor Brown catch every moment of it perfectly. As Hughes closes with her routine Ali famously finishes his quote:

“I murdered a rock,
Injured a stone, Hospitalized a brick.
I’m so mean, I make medicine sick.”

We look forward to addition parts in this brilliant series. Enjoy!
