T-Pain and Lil Wayne are headed back to the studio to cook up together. After releasing his 1UP album earlier this week, T-Pain dropped by Beats 1 Radio and told Ebro Darden about his plans to release the sequel to T-Wayne, a Pain-Weezy joint project that dropped back in 2017.
“We’re definitely about to do a T-Wayne 2 no question,” Pain told Darden in an interview released Thursday (Feb. 28). “I got a ton of hooks lined up already that I’m about to send Wayne and that’s just how we do it.
Back in 2017, T-Pain finally released his long-rumored Wayne joint project, T-Wayne, for free. T-Pain genuinely wanted Wayne fans to hear new music from Weezy.
“And I was willing to take whatever’s gonna come at me for that, and I was like, ‘Bro, here’s some more Wayne music,'” Pain continued. “Take it, man,’ whatever’s gonna come out of it, I’ll do that. But that whole thing he was going through with the Carter V and all the Cash Money, I was just like, ‘Man, this man doesn’t deserve that. I was willing to take whatever I was gonna get for that. That was my contribution to the music industry.”
T-Wayne contains eight Weezy-T-Pain tracks that were recorded as far back as 2008 when they first came together as T-Wayne for songs like “Can’t Believe It” off Pain’s Thr33 Ringz and “Got Money” off Tha Carter III. Songs from the joint album like “Waist of a Wasp” had leaked over the years, while others like “Breathe” were shelved long enough for Wayne to allow his artist Nicki Minaj to flip it into her song “Did It on Em” off her debut album Pink Friday.
