This Could Be The Last Seasons Of All American and All American: Homecoming

It’s official. All American: Homecoming will get a Season 3 renewal at The CW. However, there’s a good chance that it might be the show’s last season as well. With The CW going through a management change at the top, most of their previous scripted shows have been axed. All American was already renewed for Season 6, but it took a few weeks for them to give Homecoming the green light.

What that means in TV land is that a show is on its last legs. But fear not, at least fans will get to see a proper farewell. In 2 seasons, Homecoming has found its own lane and crawled from under the shadow of its brother series, All American. Many doubted whether Simone Hicks could carry a show alone and while there were some tense moments, Homecoming continues to pull in viewers.

Season 2 ended in a bit of a cliffhanger as Simone finally made her decision on who she wanted to be with, Damon or Orlando. As for the rest of the cast, it was about the moment of truth. Keisha went hard to bring down her dance instructor but got cold feet at the endpoint. Nate won Student Body President, and Thea decided to turn pro. Cam is an official member of KEK but then there is JR and who is dealing with a health crisis.

All American: Homecoming may not draw in the viewers the same way A Different World did back in the 90s, but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been as impactful. Good quality black shows are hard to find and the moment a few does come along, we can celebrate them only for so long, before they’re gone.

3-4 seasons of laughter or tears, then boom, everything vanishes. This is why Networks like BET being in the hands of African-Americans is so important. There will be no need to go to networks like the CW, ABC, NBC, or CBS to get the time slots we hope for.

For All American, although it gets a season 6, that will have limited episodes. There is no official word, but the reports are that All American will get at least 10-12 episodes to close out its run on The CW. Two great shows, two great casts, and both are getting the short end of the stick. Yes, 6 seasons and a spinoff is nothing to scoff at, but you get the feeling that both shows still had more left in the tank.
