Ye, formerly known as rap star Kanye West went viral last week after a controversial interview with popular hip-hop blogger DJ Akademiks. In the interview, Kanye wears a blacked-out Klu Klux Klan uniform and makes several statements that left people shocked.
DJ Akademiks Defends Kanye West
Kanye came under heavy backlash after the interview was released. But he does have at least one ally in DJ Akademiks.
In a recent interview with TMZ, the blogger said he felt that there were “coherent” statements made by the Yeezy founder.
“He gave me a heads-up about and I read the text wrong at first. It was like, ‘I’m wearing my black outfit’ and I was like, well, black’s my favorite color. I’m thinking he’s just gonna wear all black,” Akademiks said.
“Then I read it again and it was like, ‘I’m wearing my black KKK outfit.’ I tried to at least start the conversation by saying, ‘Why this representation?’ It’s hard to ignore the obvious. He’s sending very strong signals — you know, he’s walking around with a swastika chain.”
The blogger also added:
“Having conversations with him on camera and even off camera, even if you disagree, he is making some coherent points”
Among the people that Kanye took aim aim during the interview were Jay-Z and Beyonce. He slammed hip-hop’s power couple for not using their influence to help him get custody of his children when he was embattled with Kim Kardashian.
“JAY-Z, Beyoncé, you ain’t help me when I was having problems with my kids. You could have used your influence. No, your influence is for politics. Your influence is how you could use a n***a you never wanted to sign anyway that Dame signed. You ain’t show up to my first wedding. You ain’t my family. I never had family out here,” he said.
