A Bronx-based drill rapper has been formally charged in connection with a Midtown Manhattan shooting that critically injured Kris Boyd, prosecutors confirmed.
According to reports first broken by Rolling Stone journalist Prezzy Brown on Thursday (Jan. 22), Fredrick Green, who performs under the name Tbo Zay, was arraigned on January 21 in Manhattan Criminal Court. The 20-year-old Bronx rapper faces multiple felony charges stemming from a November 16 shooting outside a restaurant on West 38th Street.
Green has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree, first-degree assault, and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. During the arraignment, prosecutors alleged that surveillance footage places Green at the scene before, during, and after shots were fired shortly after 2 a.m. Authorities say the confrontation began as a verbal dispute fueled by perceived disrespect and escalated when Green allegedly fired a gun twice.
One of the bullets struck Boyd in the abdomen, traveled through his torso, and punctured a lung, according to prosecutors. The New York Jets cornerback was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. Although Boyd was later released, he was readmitted around Thanksgiving due to complications related to the gunshot wound. Officials say he remains hospitalized.
The case remains ongoing as prosecutors continue to pursue the charges against Green.
