So of course he had something to say, something to those who were critical of his 2025 film, Sean Combs: The Reckoning. Now that the film is officially Emmy-nominated.
“Everybody had something to say when I announced it… Now the Emmys have something to say too. 3 Emmy nominations for Sean Combs: The Reckoning. You can’t argue with the work,” the rap star wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday (June 8).
The documentary was nominated for three Emmy awards:
Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program, and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program
Sean Combs: The Reckoning chronicles the years of crimes and abuse committed by the Bad Boy Records founder. And also includes exclusive raw footage of Combs in the days leading up to his September 2024.
Following the debut of the film, Diddy and his legal team filed a cease and desist demanding that Netflix remove the documentary from its streaming service. They claimed that the footage was a hit piece given to Combs’ longtime rival, 50 Cent. However, the streaming service fired back at that notion. Stating that those claims are completely false.
Combs is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence. After being convicted of interstate prostitution charges in October 2025. Involving his ex-girlfriend and label artist, Cassie Ventura, as well as an unidentified Jane Doe. Believed to be his ex-girlfriend, Daphne Joy.
Combs is set to be released in February 2028.
