50 Cent’s ongoing feud with Sean “Diddy” Combs took an interesting turn when he announced he would be producing a Netflix documentary. One that takes a deep dive into the Bad Boy Records founder’s years of crimes.
The trailer that 50 and Netflix released on Monday (December 1) showed exclusive footage that was filmed just days before Combs was arrested by the NYPD in September 2024. However, in light of the film’s release, 50 became the subject of backlash from Diddy’s PR team, who refer to him as one of Combs’ adversaries.
50 Hits Back at Diddy’s PR Team
It did not take long for 50 to respond to that backlash. He clowned Juda Engelmayer. Whom he refers to as the music mogul’s “crisis management” for also representing Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood filmmaker.
“This is Puffy’s crisis management PR, he is saying very nasty things about me. I mean, very nasty, he is calling me an adversary. [worried face emoji] I just didn’t want to go to his party’s LOL,” he wrote on Instagram.
The ’50s “adversary” reference is in response to a statement where Puffy’s PR team called out Netflix. For their irresponsibility in having the film produced by 50 Cent.
“ 50 Cent is a longtime public adversary who has mocked Mr. Combs for decades. Posted fabricated accusations, and publicly celebrated his legal challenges,” the statement reads. “Even Mr. Jackson has admitted he was ‘shocked’ Sean ever filmed some of these moments, which underscores that the footage is being exploited for entertainment rather than presented with fairness or context.”
They also questioned how 50 Cent and Netflix obtained the footage for the documentary. As well as how ethical it could have been.
“The footage was created for an entirely different purpose. Under an arrangement that was never completed, and no rights were ever transferred to Netflix,” the statement continues. “A payment dispute between outside parties does not create permission for Netflix to use unlicensed, private material. None of this footage came from Mr. Combs or his team, and its inclusion raises serious questions about how it was obtained and why Netflix chose to use it.”
Sean Combs: The Reckoning is now streaming on Netflix.
