50 Cent might be trading power moves for punch combos.
According to Nexus Point News, the Queens native is currently in talks to play Balrog—the fierce, disgraced boxer from the Street Fighter video game franchise—in the upcoming film adaptation.
The buzz started heating up on Monday (June 23), when Fif shared a screenshot of the casting rumor on Instagram. “No days off, let’s work. All roads lead to Shreveport,” he added in the caption.
While the studio hasn’t made anything official yet, sources close to the production say negotiations are underway, and 50 Cent is seriously being considered for the role.
It’s not a surprising move for the rapper-turned-mogul, who’s already proven himself in the world of television. He’s the powerhouse behind several hit shows on Starz, including Power, Force, and Raising Kanan, not to mention BMF, which chronicles the rise of the infamous Black Mafia Family. And he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
In a recent interview, 50 revealed that his production company is expanding its reach to the UK. He also just announced another bold new project: Mogul, a scripted series inspired by the rise and fall of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
“Inspired by the rise and fall of Sean P Diddy Combs. Fk it. I gotta make some money off this st. Coming soon! This ain’t Empire,” he wrote on Instagram earlier this month (June 6). From rap icon to entertainment mogul to possible Street Fighter villain—50 Cent is clearly not hitting the brakes anytime soon.
