50 Cent Reveals Why Eminem Didn’t Pursue Acting Career
Eminem’s debut movie was a huge success and a cultural phenomenon. But he never returned to the big screen. In a recent sit-down with GQ, 50 Cent explained why Em chose not to pursue a career as a movie star. When talking about his own experience creating films, he talked about his desire to have creative control. He revealed that lack of creative control is what made Em want to stop making movies.
“I said, ‘I wanna do a movie.’ Then, when we got into it, there was really no control. So, this is why they couldn’t get [Eminem] back after 8 Mile,” 50 Cent said as caught by 2Cool2Blog on X. “Because he can control things when we work on music in the studio. It’s not ready until we say it’s ready. We can do it and do it over or, you know, it doesn’t matter. ‘Til it’s perfected. Now, you’re just someone on a team of people that can make a great project. And then, there’s a whole cast.”
8 Mile grossed over $242 million globally during its theatrical run. This made it a massive commercial success against its $41 million production budget. It surpassed that budget in the film’s opening weekend with a whopping $51 million in revenue in the first three days.
