New York Jets future Hall of Fame Quarterback Aaron Rodgers found himself in headlines this week when multiple new outlets reported that US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr had selected his Vice Presidential running mate and none other than Rodgers was on the short list. Rodgers who is currently in Costa Rica has yet to respond to the rumors, and speculation continues to grow that he might be inserted in the 2024 political arena during a campaign announcement scheduled for March 26 in Oakland where RFK Jr will unveil his choice.
National and local New York sports media have generally panned the idea of the Jets QB splitting time tossing TD passes and prepping for foreign policy debates. The critiques have drawn parallels to Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s call to LeBron James in 2018 to āshut up and dribbleā which was universally decried.Ā
Many sport media pundits including Stephan A Smith and Outkickās Clay Travis provided analysis on this unprecedentedĀ political development. Travis asked in his post on X if Rodgers ācould run while playing football for the Jetsā citing a clause that might trigger āan equal time TV violationā. See the post below:
Aaron Rodgers per @nytimes is at the top of RFK, Jrās vice presidential list. Could he run while playing football for the Jets? Would this be an equal time TV violation? This would be incredible to see.

Jets teammate Sauce Gardner provided a lighter perspective indicating that Rodgers hasnāt been returning his text messages and suspecting an impending run for the White House could be the reason.
Ohhhh, Aaron bouta become the VP.. Thatās why he aināt been answering my text messages????

Will Aaron Rodgers run for Vice President? Will it impact his legendary career and how will the Jets respond? We will have those answers soon but either way it goes the possibility of Aaron Rodgers as VP already makes the 2024 cycle one to remember.
