The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will meet in the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans. And for as much hype that has surrounded the game, there is just as much excitement surrounding this year’s Super Bowl Halftime show. One that features Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar.

A Look Back at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show

This won’t be Kendrick’s first time gracing the Super Bowl Halftime Show. When the Cincinnati Bengals faced the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, at the first Super Bowl centered around a hip-hop show focused solely on hip-hop music, Compton’s own Dr. Dre headlined the halftime show along with 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem, with Lamar being a guest.

Several legendary Los Angeles area performers graced the Super Bowl halftime show with their presence in 2022. And with the presence that Dr. Dre has in the rap game there probably could have been more. But with a limited time slot, not everyone could grace the stage.

Still, it left a lot of people feeling slighted, including 50 Cent’s former G-Unit artist, the game.

“Outside of myself, I also think that YG should’ve been on the Super Bowl. If it was a New York Super Bowl you might’ve saw JAY-Z, you might’ve saw Nas. You might’ve saw Mary J. and Fivio Foreign, and Alicia Keys. Snoop is an icon, Dre is an icon, Em is an icon. But Em is not from L.A., 50 is not from L.A.,” Game said on the I Am Athlete podcast in 2022.

“I’m not taking away from the fact that they were on the Super Bowl. But L.A. n-gas wouldn’t have been on a Detroit Super Bowl or New York Super Bowl. It just wouldn’t have happened.”

The game added that he was hurt at the time, and he no longer harbors any sour feelings about the decision.

“Am I bothered by it today? I’m not bothered by it today….It was an amazing Super Bowl and it was a win for our culture as a whole. I just felt like if it was going to be in L.A. like, n-gga, you know,” he added.
