According to multiple sources, the lawyer can no longer practice law in the Southern District of New York. This includes New York, Bronx, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Duchess, and Sullivan state counties, including the five boroughs of New York City.
The Committee on Grievances for the Southern District of New York made this decision on Saturday following investigations into alleged attorney misconduct. The committee found Buzbee failed to ask for permission to practice in the district before submitting for admission on Jan. 29, 2025. He reportedly did so recently because his negligence was pointed out in the recently dropped lawsuit accusing Jay-Z and Diddy of sexual assault. Buzbee was subsequently denied the ability to practice.
Although the case Buzbee filed against Jay-Z has already been dropped, his 12+ individual cases against Diddy within New York City’s jurisdiction could now be in jeopardy. The courts have reportedly advised Buzbee to seek “pro hac vice” admission or special permission from the legal body to proceed in those matters.
Tony Buzbee has not yet issued a public response to the reports.
Earlier this month, Buzbee voluntarily dismissed the sexual assault case he brought against Diddy and Hov. The lawsuit alleged that the two music moguls raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000.
