One member of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) has come under fire. And it is because of a viral music video. Seven-year NYPD veteran, Melissa Mercado has come under fire after being featured in rapper S-Quires music video for his new single “Doin’ That.”

NYPD Vet, Melissa Mercado, Under Fire For Music Video Appearance
The video is graphic, to say the least. Mercado is seen wearing scantily clad clothing, twerking and even dancing on the stripper pole. In an empty strip club. As the artist raps and throws dollar bills at her. And if you think the imagery is graphic, the lyrics are MUCH worse.
“Legs long, a** thick, just wanna smash it quick hit the dash, and split. Cash app it quick, straight on some ratchet s**t, she loves to scratch and spit,” the artist raps in the song.

To make matters even worse, Mercado is currently assigned to the Bronx Special Victims Unit. So being featured in a video for such a sexually explicit and degrading song is not the best look.
According to the Daily Loud, Mercado is in danger of losing her job. In addition, several officers have weighed in on the scandal, with differing opinions about what they saw.
“I have no words,” one detective said.
“If she is performing for money, if she has a side gig, the job would want to know about that,” another person added.
“The member would be obligated to file an off-duty employment application. I would say nothing she does in the video is the department’s business,” another person said.
Mercado has yet to respond to the backlash for her actions. The NYPD has also remained mum on the matter, but with the video going viral, you would expect that an official statement is forthcoming.
It will be interesting to see what the result of this scandal will be and what the future holds for the officer.
