A$AP Rocky’s Lawyer, Joe Tacopina Reveals Why He Won’t Represent Diddy
Rocky’s aquittal sparked a conversation about why Tacopina wasn’t representing Sean “Diddy” Combs in his federal sex trafficking case. In a new interview with DJ Vlad, Tacopina revealed why he wasn’t representing the Bad Boy Founder.
“I didn’t turn him down because I don’t like him or I don’t believe in his case. I think he’s got a very defensible case,” he explained.
“To me, this whole case boils down to an issue of consent. As far as I know, I don’t know all the evidence. But it’s an issue of consent. Did they consent or did they not? Was a gun put to someone’s head? Or did they want to do it because they were getting all the perks associated with being part of a Diddy party and being one of Diddy’s entourage?” Tacopina continued, revealing that for him, turning down the case was simply a matter of timing.
After Rocky was acquitted, Tacopina appeared on Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club. During his appearance he also suggested that one of the reasons he has not considered Diddy as a client was because of his close relationship with Roc Nation Founder, Jay-Z. That led people to believe that there was a rift between Jay and Diddy.
In this new interview, he added more context to his comments.
“My turning it down is because I [had] Rocky’s trial coming up and a host of other things,” he revealed.
“I do have a great relationship with Jay and Roc Nation, I represent a lot of them. That would have nothing to do with it. No one at Roc Nation ever told me not to represent him, so, that I think was misconstrued and probably taken out of context.”
