Terence “Bud” Crawford is one of the most feared boxers in the game. But just because he holds the belts, doesn’t mean other people don’t try to test him.
Bud Crawford Says He Nearly Choked Trey Songz
On a recent episode of Club Shay Shay the prize fighter revealed that he nearly got in an altercation with R&B star, Trey Songz at 50 Cent’s famed Tycoon Weekend in Houston in 2024. Crawford said things got so heated that he nearly “choked the s***” out of Songz.
“Trey Songz was just having a moment. Is he serious or is he playing? I was waiting to go ‘I’m just playing with you’. I wasn’t gonna punch him, I was gonna choke him,” Bud said.
He added: “I wanna choke you, I don’t even wanna punch you.”
During an appearance on Cigar Talk in February 2025 Crawford added that the altercation occurred because of a dispute over a gambling debt.
“He said, ‘Shot for shot, bet $100,’” Bud recalled. “So I shoot, I make it, boom. He shot, he missed, bam. I said, ‘So you got me a $100?’ He was like, ‘Bet that.’ I’m like, ‘Alright.’ “So I shot, I make it. He shot, he made it. So I’m like, ‘You still owe me $100.’ He was like ‘No we even.’ I started laughing.”
Although Crawford said that he began laughing things quickly took a serious turn.
He added: “I don’t know if the dude was drunk or something but he just started tripping. He was like, ‘I don’t care if you are the world champion.’ I’m like, ‘Is he serious?’ I think he might be on drugs or something. I think he’s playing.
50 Cent Helped Cooler Heads Prevail
So I’m like, ‘Man, I’ll take you in the back and make you cry, make you scream. What are you talking about?’”
Ironically it was 50 Cent of all people who made sure that cooler heads prevailed.
“50 come over like, ‘Woah.’ He was like, ‘Hold up, man. T, don’t fuck up the bag on this n****, So we get to the dinner, 50 Cent did his little rap and he gets on the microphone and was like, ‘We got Bud about to beat up Trey Songz.’” Bud added.
“Trey started laughing and came and dapped me up, so it was cool.”
