Green Bay played host to the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 24. And after having one of the best seasons in college football, Shedeur Sanders, the son of former rapper and NFL cornerback Deion Sanders, was expected to be among the top draft picks.

However, things did not go according to plan for Shedeur and the Sanders family. Not only was he not among the top picks in the draft, but he fell out of the first round completely.
Shedeur Sanders Falls Out of First Round of NFL Draft
Shedeur did not attend the draft but instead held a draft party at the Sanders’ residence. After a disappointing night, Shedeur remained optimistic about his NFL future.
“We all didn’t expect this, of course,” Sanders said at his draft party.
“I feel like with God, anything [is] possible ― everything possible. I don’t feel like this happened, you know, for no reason. All this is, of course, is fuel to the fire.”
It may have been an unsuccessful night for Deion Sanders in round one of the NFL Draft. But Coach Prime is continuing to stack up the wins in his collegiate career.
Star quarterback Julian Lewis, a five-star recruit, announced his commitment to Colorado in November. It’s a huge win for the program with Shedeur Sanders leaving the University to go pro. Following the news, Deion expressed his excitement about the future of the program.
“It was a great thing for the program,” Sanders said. “We know that’s been in the working for quite some time. Great kid, with great talent. I like the qualities and the home structure. I like all of that, and I can’t wait to be a part of his life and coach him.”
Lewis’ commitment came just five days after flipping his decision to play at USC. When asked about his recruitment process, Sanders explained that it is mainly a matter of “feeling.”
“When I feel it in my spirit, you know, get [Lewis] on the phone and get his poppa on the phone, see if his dad wanna come down and just sit down and chop it up with me,” Sanders added.
