Diddy’s Legal Team Wants Gag Order on Cassie’s Attorney
As the trial is set to begin, Diddy’s legal team is already upping the ante. His lawyers have requested a gag order on one of the prosecuting attorneys on the case Douglas Wigdor.
A gag order is a legal order that restricts the public release of information or comments.
“Absent a Court order, we expect the publicity to not only continue but escalate as trial commences, “Combs’ attorneys wrote in the letter to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian per The Daily Mail.
“Indeed in recent weeks, lawyers for government witnesses have commented on pretrial litigation and continued to broadcast prejudicial statements.”
Wigdor is the attorney for Diddy’s ex-girlfriend and label artist, Cassie Ventura, who is a key part of this case.
Cassie Video Is Key Component in Federal Trial
In many ways, Cassie is the catalyst of Diddy’s rapid downfall. In November 2023, she filed a civil suit that accused Diddy of assaulting and trafficking her during their 11-year relationship that spanned from 2011-2018.
Diddy quickly settled but that was far from the end of his problems. Sixth months later in May 2024, CNN released a graphic video that showed Diddy assaulting the former Bad Boy artist in a Los Angeles hotel room.
In the video, Cassie appears to try to escape from the hotel while Diddy is in the shower. That is when the Bad Boy founder appears moments later and chases her down the corridor wearing just a towel. He then repeatedly kicks and strikes her. Diddy eventually overpowers her and drags her limp body back into their hotel room.
Following the release of the video, Windsor said that the video is just further proof that the music mogul is guilty of the crimes that he is being accused of.
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” he said via HipHopDX. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
