Kid Cudi Announces New Album on The Way
Cudi did not reveal the title of his upcoming project. But he did tease a new single titled NEVERLAND.
“Pre-save NEVERLAND, my first single from my new album, NOW! At http://kidcudi.com,” He wrote on social media on April 30.
When you click the link, it takes you to a website with a countdown leading up to May 9, hinting at that being the release date of the new single.
Social media has been a major driver of Cudi’s rollout of his upcoming album. In March he revealed that he would be creating exclusive listening experiences for fans in select cities.
“Hey, fam. I see the excitement. I have an idea. I wanna get 10 fans in a room to hear my first 2 singles and then afterward, we interview u and u tell us what u heard. Planning on it this month,” he wrote. “I’ll be listening w u so u meet me and we chill and vibe out.
Those cities will be New York City, Los Angeles, and of course his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.
There has been a lot of anticipation surrounding Cudi’s new album. Especially after a recent interview with Hube where he noted he was taking his music in a “new direction.”
“This new direction that I’m taking with my album has been exciting for me because I put myself in an uncomfortable situation to achieve it,” he said. “When I first started making this album, I didn’t know if I would even be able to sing at the level I needed to for it to be executed in the right way. Working on these songs, collaborating with the writers and producers, and building songs from the ground up—did something for me as an artist.
