Drake has transformed himself into one of the biggest artists of all time. But once upon a time, he was just a new kid on the block trying to leave his mark on the music industry. Making his official debut on Lil Wayne’s Young Money label was a major stepping stone that catapulted him to global superstardom.
Lil Wayne’s Son Makes Wild Drake Claim
However, in a recent post, Lil Wayne’s son, Novi hinted that Wayne may have had more to do with Drake’s success than fans initially presumed. During a recent stream, Novi appeared to indicate that his father wrote several of Drake’s hit records.
“My dad wrote most of [Drake’s] s**t. If it wasn’t for my pops there wouldn’t be no Drake,” Novi said during the stream.

Following the stream fans weighed in on social media.
“Go listen to Take Care, you can literally hear Drake imitating Wayne reference track voice on HYFR, cameras, we’ll be fine, the motto,” one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Imagine taking the words of a 15-year-old as a fact and posting it. You niggas are SHAMELESS,” another user added, noting Novi’s adolescence.
“And this is how the beef between Wayne and Drake starts,” another user said.
Could a beef between Drake and Lil Wayne be brewing? It may seem far-fetched but it’s not as wild of a notion as some may think.
First and foremost, Drake has cut off several of his former close cohorts as a result of his beef with Kendrick Lamar. DJ Khaled, Demar DeRozan, and LeBron James just to name a few.
And although Lil Wayne did not show support for Kendrick during his and Drake’s 2024 beef, he didn’t exactly come to Drizzy’s defense either.
Fans were also surprised to see that Drake was not one of the features on Wayne’s latest project, “Tha Carter 6”. However, former Young Money artist, Nicki Minaj appeared on the bonus track “Banned From NO (Remix)”.
Wayne and Drizzy have not appeared on a track together since 2021. When Wayne appeared on Drake’s song You Only Live Twice”, featured on Drake’s album “Certified Lover Boy.”
