We are nearing the eleventh hour of the federal trial of disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. To bring things up to speed, the Bad Boy Records founder is accused of being the mastermind of a sex trafficking ring for over two decades. Prosecutors allege that the hotbed for the alleged trafficking was at Diddy’s star-studded parties also known as “freak-offs.”

Diddy Scores Major Victory Ahead of Jury Decision

Diddy was looking at spending the rest of his life in prison for his alleged crime. But as the trial is set to wrap up, Diddy scored a major legal victory. According to TMZ, prosecutors dropped several of the charges that had been brought up against the Making Da Band creator.

According to the outlet, prosecutors have dropped the charges of attempted kidnapping, attempted arson, and aiding and abetting sex trafficking in the case against the music mogul.

Per TMZ, the prosecutors are dropping the aforementioned charges to simplify the process for the jury. They wrote in a letter to the trial judge that they wanted the decision to be “streamlined.”

However, the outlet also adds that the decision could be based on the testimony of one of the key witnesses in the trial. Diddy’s former employee, Capricorn Clark. During her testimony, Clark accused Combs of kidnapping her. During a 2011 incident involving his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, and the rapper Kid Cudi.

TMZ notes that the prosecutors feel that they had “fallen flat” on proving the kidnapping charge beyond a reasonable doubt.

Kid Cudi became a pivotal part of the trial after it was discovered that he and Cassie became intimate during a break in her and Diddy’s relationship. Cassie said that once the music mogul found out about her and Kid Cudi’s relationship he threatened to blow his car. Cudi’s Porsche was blown up with a Molotov cocktail.

However, they were also unable to prove that Diddy was behind the arson.

Closing arguments are set to take place in the coming days after which the jury will deliberate on a decision.
