Rap Star’s Falling Out With Label Explained
This, of course, will be the final project that Gunna releases under the Young Stoner Life (YSL) label.
To bring things up to speed, Gunna’s falling out with the label came as a result of the YSL RICO trial. After being named in the initial indictment and released several months later, several parties, including YSL founder Young Thug, accused Gunna of snitching for his freedom. However, his attorney Steve Sadow shut down those allegations in January 2025.
“I was Gunna’s attorney, but I am NOT speaking on his behalf. This long post is solely to set out the truth. Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to cause harm to Thug’s case,” Sadow said.
Additionally, Sadow noted that the rap star spent 8 months in jail and was released in December 2022 after entering an Alford plea. This is an agreement where the accused party admits guilt while also maintaining their innocence and allows for their release.
“Gunna’s plea could not and was not used at Thug’s trial, and he was never even named as a witness,” Sadow added. “He received a 5-year suspended sentence, with no reporting, no travel restrictions, no living restrictions, AND NO PROBATION.”
