Jay-Z can’t seem to shake the critics these days. His latest critic is former music executive, Lance “Un” Rivera. Rivera has taken issue with HOV’s falling out with his one-time business partner, Dame Dash.
Un Rivera Calls Out Jay-Z For Not Helping Dame Dash
In a recent interview with Art of Dialogue, Rivera called out the Roc Nation founder for not assisting Dash amid his reported financial struggles.
“JAY-Z, I hate to keep bringing your name up, but I think it’s some sucker s**t,” Rivera said. “He probably did some things that he did with his money that was, you know what I’m saying—but nah, he’s not supposed to be in the situation that he’s in.”
Dash and Jay-Z were business partners during their stint with Roc-A-Fella Records, where they broke out talent such as the Diplomats, Beanie Sigel, and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.
Jay and Dame eventually went on to split after the sale of Roc-A-Fella Records to Def Jam. HOV became President of the Company shortly after.
Un Gets Candid About 1999 Altercation
Jay and Un have also had their past issues. The two were involved in a huge altercation at the Kit-Kit Club during Q-Tip’s album release party in New York City in 1999 that resulted in Un being stabbed.
Many people alleged that it was Jay-Z who did the stabbing after he pleaded to third-degree assault for his role in the altercation and received three years’ probation.
However, Un says that is not the case.
“I don’t know where people got JAY-Z stabbed me from,” he said in an interview with DJ Vlad. “Because if anyone knows JAY-Z, JAY-Z’s a nice guy. He’s an artist, he’s a poet, he’s gifted, and it’s never been his history. If JAY-Z had stabbed me, y’all would have never gotten The Black Album.”
Jay-Z has not offered a response to Un’s comments.
