Rap fans got some major news on Lil Baby on Thursday (September 11). But it was not the news they were hoping for.
Lil Baby is Allegedly Retiring From Music
Instead of the rap star solidifying a release date for his new album, his team announced that he would be retiring. The social media post from his management team, Wolfpack Global Music, reads:
“Baby retiring from music, this is crazy,” via @FearBuck on X.
Following the announcement, confused fans weighed in on social media.
“We don’t care for Lil Baby when we have NBA YoungBoy,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Feels more like a marketing stunt or his team trolling for attention. Until Baby himself says it, I’m not buying it,” another user added.
“If this retirement is real, it’s bigger than music. Lil Baby carried the streets, gave people something to believe in, and turned his whole life into proof that you can rise without losing your roots,” a third user said.

One reason that the news is such a shock is that Lil Baby had been teasing an upcoming album for weeks. The 17-track project, titled “The Leaks,” was initially set to drop on August 15, but was pushed back.
Several artists were set to be on the project, including Young Thug, G Herbo, and Rylo Rodriguez.
Baby also recently dropped a project at the top of the year titled “Wham.” The project debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 200 after selling 140,000 units in the first week.
Baby is still one of the hottest artists in the game, with a large fan base to match. So the reason why he is allegedly retiring is still a head scratcher. This could all be a part of the promotional rollout for his new album. But for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
