The Notorious B.I.G. had his fair share of flings during his illustrious rap career. But his name is most synonymous with R&B legend Faith Evans. But before she became a star on Diddy’s Bad Boy Records label, she was connected with another rapper, Redman.
Redman Admits He Was Jealous When Biggie Married Faith Evans
During a recent appearance on Acton Entertainment, the rap legend revealed that he used to date Faith Evans when he was younger. During their upbringing in Newark, NJ. He also noted that he became “jealous” when she began dating Biggie.
“When she started her relationship with Biggie, I was jealous,” Redman said. “First of all, Faith was my sister’s best friend, and I met Faith through my sister. Yeah, we were all young. Me and Faith I were dating at a very young age before we got on. Way before. She’s always been a sweetheart to me. She’s always been my heart.”
Redman went on to add that despite his initial jealousy, he ended up being “happy” for Faith and Biggie. He also credited her for always being “smart” and always moving with “good discernment.”
“When she was dating Biggie, I was like, you know, Faith has always been a smart person, […] so of course she’s gonna move with good discernment,” he added. “I was happy for ’em. I was really, really happy for ’em.”
Faith and Biggie went on to get married. And share a song together — Christopher Jr., who played the younger version of his father in the rap star’s biopic, Notorious. As someone who knew Faith Evans before she reached superstardom, Redman says he is “amazed at her outcome.”
“Then they had a kid, and I was just amazed at her outcome,” he added. “Like literally getting on, being successful, being part of one of the hottest rap crews at the time. I was, ‘Wow, she’s doing her thing.’ So the only thing I could do was salute her, pray for her, and wish her the best.”
