Jay-Z and Nas had one of the highly publicized beefs in the history of hip-hop. More than two decades after the fact, the vast majority believe that Nas defeated Jay because of his 2001 track, Ether. But former Roc-A-Fella Memphis artist sees things differently.

Memphis Bleek Insists Jay-Z Won The ‘War’ Between Him & Nas

During a recent appearance on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, Bleek said that he would “never” agree with the fans. Bleek also added that even though most fans believe that Nas got the best of Hov with Ether, ultimately Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella won the “war.” Because after the fact, Jay-Z dropped a classic album, referring to the Grammy winner’s 2002 project, Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse.

“I’m never going to agree with the fans. They try to say Ether was the best diss record in the Jay-Z and Nas battle. We can’t argue with the fans,” he said. “But you know what we’re going to do. We’re going to make a classic album. …  That’s how you win a war. You can lose a battle, but you have to win the war.”

Previously, Bleek declared himself the instigator of Nas and Jay-Z’s famed beef. Noting that initially, the smoke was between him and Nas. When the Queens native threw a shot at Bleek in a verse on his 1999 track, Nastradamus.

“N***a hit me like, ‘yo n***as dissed you Blizz! The whole hood is talking about it…[Nas] said ‘I’ll let a slug melt in your hat’ or some silly s**t,” he said during a 2023 episode of Drink Champs.

One Nas threw the first shot, Bleek hit back at him with his track Mind Right. Bleek also maintained that while he was ready for “all the smoke” with Nas, however, Jay-Z quickly interjected.

“Then when he shot back, that’s when Hov was like ‘yo Bleek chill, I got this.’ I was like ‘alright big homie hold it down!'”
