Young Thug dropped his highly anticipated fourth studio album, UY Scuti, on Friday (September 26). This album was the rap star’s first project since being released from prison in October 2024. So naturally, fans were excited to see what was in store for the new project.
One of the biggest surprises on Young Thug’s new album was that one of the songs, titled Whaddup Jesus, featured his longtime rival YSL Lucci. So naturally, fans were puzzled when the rappers were featured on each other’s albums. Fans were even more confused when the two were spotted in the club together over the weeks.
Young Thug Breaks Silence on Ending Beef With YFN Lucci
But amid the confusion, Young Thug says that he and Lucci squashing their beef was bigger than either one’s ego. Their putting their differences behind them was about making the City of Atlanta a better place.
“We came a long way from the trenches,” Thug said (via XXL). “We got rid of our problems. I hope y’all find a way to get rid of the problems y’all have in y’all life…I did that for Atlanta, for the community, for the city. We’re tired of losing people for nothing. Even if it is something, it’s just not worth losing people.”
Thugger and Lucci’s feud led to bloodshed all around Metro Atlanta. And even continued when Lucci was sent to jail in January 2021. Thug put out several hits on Lucci. One even resulted in him being stabbed by an alleged YSL member. In retaliation, one of Lucci’s YFN members hogtied one of Young Thug’s alleged henchmen in his cell and appeared to attempt to scrape his tattoos off with a shank.
But even after all that has occurred, the two former rivals appear ready to put their differences behind them. For Lucci, he believes it was time for him and Thugger to move forward because they both had already lost so much.
“First off, we’ve been through a lot,” he said. “Everybody lost people; we lost people. Most important sh*t, we lost our time. We had to be away from our family. So, coming home, it’s like, damn, what the hell can a n***a do to bro? We’re gonna keep doing that sh*t and end up back in jail or one of our homies dead or one of us dead? Or we’re gonna fix this sh*t and make this sh*t look good for the A?”
