One of hip-hop’s most longstanding beefs was reignited on Friday (October 31). As rap artist Benny The Butcher reignited his beef with Freddie Gibbs.

On a song titled “Free Roleys” from Westside Gunn’s new album, Benny references the face-to-face that he and Gibbs had at a Paris airport earlier this year.
“Even in airports, rappers get checked like customs. They provoke me, and then y’all quote me. Low-key, y’all should blame them boys that woke me. When I put another rapper’s head on the shelf like a trophy, Dark skin, bald head, mama’s boy, y’all are Jodys Good looks on all that free promotion, and thanks for that, Rollie,” he raps on the track.
Fans on social media, however, were not that impressed with Benny’s new song. And expressed their displeasure.
Went to listen to the song. Doesn’t hit as hard. I just think it could have been on a better beat,” one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“That Benny diss to Freddie Gibbs was weak. Gibbs has been shooting at him for like 2 years, and that’s all you got?” another user added.
“I thought they squashed their corny ass beef already,” a third user said.
In the aforementioned video, which ironically was recorded by Westside Gunn’s son, Benny and Freddy can be seen having a spirited discussion. The entire context of the conversation isn’t clear. But Benny can be heard telling Freddie to say something “on record.”

In a separate video, Gunn narrates the video, explaining what went down.
“You see Freddie talking to Benny, Benny talking to Freddie,” Gunn said in the clip (via Complex). “I told [Benny] this is neutral, this is the only time we’re probably gonna get this because any other time it would be furniture moving. It’s either all-out war or nothing.”
