Back in July, music stars SZA and Nicki Minaj went viral after they engaged in a social media beef. One that began after she accused Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) President Terrence “Punch” Henderson of “bullying” her.
SZA Sounds Off on Recent Feud With Nicki Minaj
SZA was one of the entities that caught a stray in the midst of Minaj’s social media firestorm. This turned into a viral back-and-forth between the two superstars. In the aftermath, SZA says she isn’t sure where Minaj’s hostility toward her came from. Especially because she doesn’t know her.
“I don’t know her,” SZA said of Minaj in a new interview with GQ. “We have no connection to each other. There’s no backstory. Like, there was no through-line narrative. It was just like, ‘Roc Nation’…. I don’t know where it came from. That’s not even my place to correct a narrative that I don’t have shit to do with. It was a little strange. It was very like, ‘Why?’ But also, you know, ‘I guess.’ ”

Although the back and forth was heated, it was brief. Because SZA chose not to continue their back-and-forth on social media. That could be due to SZA’s newfound maturity. And she only wants to pour her energy into things that matter the most. And most importantly, learning not to crash out.
“I’m a grown-up for real, I’m trying to biohack my health and get my cortisol levels in check and make the best album I’ve ever made, see my grandma before she gets out of here type s**t. Keep my parents’ health in check, and tap in and see all my friends fulfilled,” SZA continued. “Like, how can we build together as women? What’s our life plan when we’re moving forward? Real n***a Shit. Not like, ‘Oh, I’m about to crash out.’ It’s more like, ‘No, it’s time for life to be built.”
