Drake was supposed to be dead in the water after his 2024 beef with Kendrick Lamar. But you wouldn’t be able to tell the way he keeps racking up wins.
Drake’s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U
In his latest victory, the Grammy-winner scored yet another plaque. As his collab album with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U has officially been certified platinum. According to the latest update from the RIAA website.
In Layman’s terms, that means that the album has sold at least one million units in the United States.
Of course, fans on social media have a lot to say after Drizzy added yet another accolade to his already-stuffed trophy case.
“Dropping a platinum R&B album right after doing the largest rap beef of all time. Versatility at its finest,” one person said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Platinum R&B album at this stage of his career is a bit insane. I can only imagine what IceMan is gonna be,” another user added.
“This one feels special, platinum off pure vibes, no gimmicks. Real R&B wins,” a third user added.
Drake’s ninth studio album, titled “Iceman,” is set to drop before the end of the year.
This will be his first solo project since he released “For All The Dogs” in 2023. It will also be his first solo drop since his 2024 beef with Kendrick Lamar.
To this point, he has released three confirmed singles that will be on the upcoming project. “What Did I Miss?”, “Which One” featuring UK rapper Central Cee, and “Dog House” featuring rapper Yeat and singer Julia Wolf.
Drake also expressed his excitement about the upcoming album during a recent stream with Adin Ross.
“I’ll stay up all night f*****g recording for Iceman,” he said. “They’re having a full-blown party outside. I can hear people, and there is a street festival all day. I’ll go out there. I’ll f*****g run out there. Turn up with them, do shots, come back— like, I just want a little, you know, I wanna feel it.”
