Chicago drill artist Lil Zay Osama has stepped in to help a hometown mother and her child. Who recently went viral for being victims of violence.

Lil Zay Steps Up to Help Chicago Mom & Son in Need

Earlier this month, 33-year-old Corshawnda, who is pregnant, picked her son up from school, where she found his classmates trying to jump him. Corshawnda tried to diffuse the situation by having them walk away. But the children continued to follow and accost them. And ultimately, they jumped her and her son in a shocking video posted by one of the children on social media.

Given the heinous nature of the assault, the video went viral on social media. With many users outraged about what they watched transpire. The video made it all the way to Lil Zay Osama, who is now offering to step up in a major way. He is flying out Corshawnda and her son to Los Angeles for a holiday dinner and Christmas shopping spree.

The rap artist is also imploring his community to do better.

“It’s just something that shouldn’t be going on,” Lil Zay Osama said as heard through AllHipHop. “Kids should be able to go to school and be comfortable walking home from school, and at school, learning. Kids of that age should not be doing things like that, especially to an adult and to their peers they go to school with. That’s crazy, that shouldn’t be happening in our community, we gotta do better.”

No arrests have been made concerning the assault. However, Illinois State Sen. Willie Preston said that a lack of accountability on the part of the kids and parents is a bigger issue that needs to be addressed.

“The video was horrible,” Preston said. “The video was disgusting, and the video was a symptom of something that’s been going on for a long time. We haven’t held these kids accountable. We haven’t held these parents accountable for the violent actions that their children are committing.”
