When 50 Cent announced that he would be releasing a Netflix documentary that detailed the downfall of Sean “Diddy” Combs, most people expected it to be explosive. And the rap star delivered on those expectations.

Juror Explains Reasoning Behind Diddy Verdict

The documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, features testimony from several key people in the investigation and trial. Aubrey O’Day and Capricorn Clark, just to name a couple. But among the most explosive testimonies were the ones that came from two of the jurors during his trial.

Diddy was only charged with interstate prostitution. But he was facing a slew of other charges, including domestic violence against his former girlfriend and label artist, Cassie Ventura. During the documentary, the jurors explained why they elected not to convict Diddy of domestic violence in addition to the prostitution. Noting the complexity of their relationship.

“That was a very, very interesting relationship versus two people in love,” he explained (via Variety). “They are overly loved. They cannot explain. She wanted to be with him. He took her for granted. He never thought that she would leave and go. So, just like both hands clapping together, you cannot clap with one hand; they both end like this. Then you get the noise.”

Juror Details Complexity of Cassie & Diddy’s Relationship

One of the most chilling discoveries during the investigation was a 2016 video that surfaced of an incident between Cassie and Combs at a Los Angeles hotel. In the video, he repeatedly kicks, punches, and drags her down the corridor of the hotel hallway. The juror noted that even after that incident and other similar incidents, Cassie continued her relationship with Combs. This also made it difficult to convict him.

“The very next day, the following day [following domestic violence incidents], if you see how they’re getting back together and exchanging text messages and like nothing ever happened,” he continued. “So now we are confused … what’s going on here? He’s beating her, and the next minute they’re going on dinners and trips. It’s like going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. That’s my answer. I mean, if you don’t like something, you completely get out. You cannot have it both ways.”
