With the 2025 finale a mere weeks away, experts are now highlighting the best music over the last 12 months. Playboi Carti’s Music album is among the projects being held in high regard.
Carti Notches 10th Spot On Rolling Stone’s List of Top Albums
Carti dropped his highly anticipated fourth studio album at the top of the year. The project debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 after selling 298,000 units in its first week.
As Rolling Stone ranked the top 100 albums of 2025, Carti came in at the 10th spot.
“The Atlanta rapper’s 2020 album, Whole Lotta Red, is a foundational text for dozens if not hundreds of extremely online acts. With Music, Playboi Carti seems decidedly aware of his potential as a generational talent,” the outlet writes.
They also added: “There are a handful of moments where synthesized washes burble and soar, the net effect of arena lights splashing onto a crowd of thousands. As Carti stands on the mountaintop, he finds himself looking back at his journey as well as admiring the view and puzzling over his inevitable descent. Even when he slips into an uninspired chant or exhausts with his monomaniacal focus on drugs, women, cars, and taunting opps, he still magnetizes as a unique pop star. —M.R”
Even after having a highly successful 2025, Carti does not appear to be letting up any time soon. According to DJ Swamp Izzo, the rap star’s next album, Baby Boi, is already finished.
“[It’s] new music. He got over 50, 60 songs done. Completed to his liking? I couldn’t say. But they’re done. If I were still in that mixtape era, we’d have BABY BOI one through nine. Fifteen years ago, we were so heartfelt on those exclusives. We couldn’t even sleep until we put it out before everybody,” he said.
It will be interesting to see what is in store for Carti in 2026.
