Uncle Murda has officially kicked off 2026 with the release of his annual tradition, “Rap Up 2025,” a 17-minute lyrical rundown of the biggest headlines, controversies, and viral moments that defined hip-hop throughout 2025. Released on January 1, 2026, and produced by Great John, the track stays true to Murda’s unapologetic, no-filter style.
One of the song’s central focuses is the legal fallout surrounding Sean Combs, with Murda addressing Diddy’s sex trafficking trial, sentencing, and the cultural shockwaves caused by the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, produced by 50 Cent. Murda also references Jay-Z keeping his distance and the lawsuit involving Cassie and a sex worker.
The track also dives deep into the Young Thug YSL trial, calling out leaked audio and prison phone calls that fueled accusations of snitching. Murda doesn’t spare comparisons to Gunna, while mentioning 21 Savage allegedly confirming parts of the controversy.
Beyond courtroom drama, Rap Up 2025 touches on ongoing industry feuds, including tensions between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, as well as 50 Cent’s conflict with Big and Lil Meech. Murda also fires off bars about viral moments like Cardi B allegedly having Stefon Diggs’ baby, Ja Rule reportedly getting jumped at a Brandy & Monica show, Blueface’s return from prison, and 21 Savage’s “F**k the streets” online movement.
True to form, Murda name-checks a wide range of artists and pop culture figures, including Mariah Carey, Summer Walker, Kanye West, and SZA, turning the track into a time capsule of the year’s chaos.
As always, Rap Up 2025 cements Uncle Murda’s role as hip-hop’s unofficial historian — documenting the culture exactly as it unfolded, unedited and uncensored.
