Tekashi 6ix9ine joined a long list of high-profile inmates to be housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Tuesday (January 6). The rap star turned himself in to the authorities to begin his prison sentence.
Updated 6ix9ine Mugshot Surfaces Online Amid Prison Bid
With 6ix9ine officially an inmate at the New York City facility, he had to take an updated mugshot. And of course, when it hit the net, it went viral on social media. In the mugshot, the “Gummo” creator can be seen sporting his natural jet-black hair. A complete 180 from his usual rainbow colored wigs.

Of course, after the mugshot went viral on social media, fans in the comments section had a lot to say.
“The fact this person even exists is worth studying,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Great for his marketing campaign. Crazy how the world works these days. Got paid to turn himself in on a live stream. What a time to be alive,” a second user added.
“Sending positive energy and hoping for a brighter future for him,” a third user chimed in.
Tekashi Suggests That a Snitch Sent Him to Prison
A judge ordered the rap star to spend 90 days in prison after several infractions that went against the terms of his probation violation.
However, during a recent stream with Adin Ross, 6ix9ine claims that he had a “close friend” turn him, which led to him being ordered to prison.
“I had a close friend/worker, and we fell out,” 6ix9ine told Ross. “What he ended up doing was meet with the feds and say I had drugs and guns in the house. They found an illegal gun and three ecstasy pills. As I said, I’m on probation, so I give full consent to search my house, because I know there’s nothing there. After that was the mall situation… Basically, I was at the mall, and I was shopping with my girlfriend, my stepson, and some guy was like, ‘If you weren’t with your family, I’d kill you, you f******g rat.’ When we beat him up, he called the cops and made a report.”
