L.A. Reid is reportedly set to face a civil trial next week stemming from sexual assault allegations brought by music executive Drew Dixon. According to Page Six, the lawsuit—filed in 2023—is scheduled to be heard in court beginning next week.
Dixon, the former vice president of A&R at Arista Records, alleges that Reid sexually assaulted her twice in 2001 while he was serving as the label’s president. She also claims that after rejecting his advances, Reid retaliated by sabotaging her career, including allegedly blocking her from signing John Legend.
The lawsuit was filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which allows survivors of sexual assault to bring forward civil claims that fall outside the statute of limitations. Reid has publicly denied the allegations.
Dixon is also known for accusing former Def Jam Recordings executive Russell Simmons of rape in 2017. In 2024, she filed a separate defamation lawsuit against Simmons after he claimed in an interview that she was lying.
