A$AP Rocky Breaks Silence on Ferg Dropping the ‘A$AP’ From His Stage Name: ‘It Bothered Me’

A$AP Rocky is putting everything out on the front street amid his album rollout, including his relationship with his longtime friend, and rap artist Ferg, formerly A$AP Ferg.

A$AP Rocky Addresses Ferg Removing ‘A$AP’ From His Name

Last year, Ferg revealed that he was no longer part of the A$AP collective. And many people wondered how that sat with Rocky. During a recent appearance on The Ebro Show on Apple Music, Rocky said that Ferg’s decision “bothered” him, but insisted that there were no sour feelings.

“I haven’t seen Ferg in a minute, man… I’ll always love Ferg. Ferg, you know, he got a good heart. You know what I mean?” the rapper said (via @mymixtapez/X). “I saw a couple of interviews where he was just like he ain’t A$AP and he dropped A$AP from his name. That sh*t bothered me. But, I ain’t gonna hold it against him. I wish him the best.”

A$AP Rocky speaks on his friendship with Ferg and shares how he felt when Ferg announced that he was removing "A$AP" from his name:

During an appearance on Toure’s podcast in 2025, Ferg confirmed that the group had disbanded. However, he did say that he felt like he still was connected to the group. But questioned the existence of the group, citing their not dropping projects as one of the reasons.

 “I’m an A$AP… But I don’t think there is A$AP anymore,” he said.

In response, one of the other group members, A$AP LLZ, went scorched earth on the rap artist. Saying that the group was still a faction, but Ferg was kicked out.

“Ferg ain’t ASAP NO MORE, sorry guys. That n**** burnt out, songs dumb trash, Mr. Anthem can’t get right,” he said as heard through OkayPlayer.

In another post, he gave insight into why Ferg was removed. Citing that he was a “yes man.”

“Damn right I ain’t no yes man nut n****a don’t respect that sh*t,” he said. “Y’all rather have a n**** who’s not even halfway on my level around just cause he a Yes man and do Whatever you want at the snap of your fingers sh*t goofy.”

At the time of writing, Ferg has not responded to Rocky’s comments.
