Eve has finally received long-overdue recognition for her role in one of hip-hop’s most celebrated records.

On January 29, 2026, Eve was officially awarded a Grammy for her uncredited contribution to You Got Me, the 1999 hit by The Roots. The song won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 2000 Grammy Awards, but Eve—who delivered the track’s standout verse—was not credited or awarded at the time.

The new honor corrects that decades-old omission, making Eve a two-time Grammy winner and formally acknowledging her impact on a song that remains a cornerstone of conscious hip-hop and late-’90s rap history.

“You Got Me” has long been praised for its soulful production and heartfelt lyricism, and Eve’s verse has consistently been cited by fans as a defining moment of the record. Nearly 27 years later, the Grammy win serves as both recognition and closure—celebrating Eve’s contribution and cementing her place in hip-hop history where it always belonged.
